The Parenting Buzz : New Tech Toys – iPodBaby, etc.
Seems like nothing is safe these days – you know it’s all going downhill when Z Recommends opens a post with: March was a big month for recalls and even penalties against companies selling kids’ products…
Forget the wooden blocks and plastic wonders. Tech toys are the way to go, and here are two recent posts about the latest and the greatest:
Nametags and ID cards are old school. daddytpyes.com writes about a geekdad who loaded some USB memory sticks with contact information and put them around his sons’ necks, instructing them that if they got lost, they should hand the hardware to whoever finds them. Flash forward: they go to Disneyland; one son gets separated from the group; memory stick works its magic; the kid is reunited with his family and Disneyland reinforces its “Happiest Place on Earth” image.
No one is safe from iPod’s reach. Next in line: the iPodBaby, a souped up iPod made especially for your precious bundle of joy. The iPodBaby has a 10 gig microdrive which can hold hundreds of lullabies or videos…heck, you could even give your child a leg up on that second (or third) language! The possibilities are endless! Add to this an engraveable console, an entire line of cutesy plush Bose headphones, a Nuk ear bud which doubles as a pacifier AND a Garrmin GPS plug-in module, and you’re well on your way to having the coolest baby on the block. The soon-to-be-released iPodBaby will retail for $349 and is appropriate for babies as young as 1 week old. [Thank you CityMama for the heads-up. Tee hee hee...]
Yep, tech is truly the way to go…or is it?
